Architecture X Design, PLLC was retained by Gensler to join their design team for a significant project at JFK Airport’s Terminal 4. Firstly, AxD worked on the Documentation and Construction Administration of the Terminal 4 Renovation and Expansion project, led by Arup as the Engineer of Record and Gensler Architects as the Design Lead. This project involved modernizing and expanding the terminal by adding more than 150,000 square feet and 10 new gates, enhancing ticketing areas, security checkpoints, baggage claim, and seating areas, and introducing new concessions and upgraded amenities.
Secondly, AxD played a crucial role in the design and realization of a renowned lounge within Terminal 4. AxD contributed to the nearly 14,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club near Gate A7 in Concourse B, featuring a covered Sky Deck and accommodating over 250 guests with panoramic airfield views. Together with the Delta One Lounge, these lounges provide a combined capacity for over 800 guests, setting new standards in airport luxury and traveler experience.
Working alongside larger firms on these projects has underscored the power of collaboration. AxD is proud to have contributed to these endeavors, which not only elevate the standard of airport facilities but also highlight MWBE participation in NYC, demonstrating the impact of diverse contributions in major infrastructure project.
